During petrochemical disasters — which are becoming more common and severe due to climate-driven extreme weather events — the needs of people with disabilities are often overlooked.
To address this problem, People Over Petro and the Partnership for Inclusive Disaster Strategies collaborated with disabled disaster survivors and organizational partners to develop guidance that considers the specific barriers facing people with disabilities during and after a disaster. It emphasizes the importance of inclusive disaster planning, accessible communication, and the specific needs of disabled community members.
