Toward a Framework for Policy, Equity, and Action
(Moderator: Mona Sarfaty, MD MPH FAAFP)
• Karl Hausker, PhD is an expert on energy policy from the World Resources Institute. He will give an overview of the contribution of energy sources to climate change, describe scenarios that are recommended to stay under 1.5 degrees, and introduce the tools that are available to achieve these ends.
• Cliff Majersik is the CEO of the Institute for Market Transformation and an expert on energy efficiency. He is also a participant in the New Consensus Coalition to define the Green New Deal. He will speak about what can be achieved through energy efficiency in buildings including health implications, and also about the Green New Deal.
• Andrew McKeon is the Director of the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative in the U.S. northeastern states. He will talk about the ten years of experience with the RGGI, what we know about its health benefits, and about the current effort to add transportation as a component of the RGGI.
• Lyndsay Alexander, MPP is Director of the Healthy Air Campaign of the American Lung Association. She will speak about clean air policy as climate policy: what has been achieved, what it has meant for health, the importance of EPA action.
