As the effects of climate change become increasingly evident, we are faced with a growing number of extreme weather events such as severe storms, hurricanes, droughts, and flooding. These events have a significant impact on human health, especially in vulnerable communities. In this webinar, Dr. J. Marshall Shepherd, Georgia Athletic Association Distinguished Professor of Geography and Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Georgia, will share his insights on the role of meteorologists in climate education and how physicians might collaborate with them to address climate and health equity, particularly in underserved communities and communities of color.

Dr. J. Marshall Shepherd, a renowned climate scientist and meteorologist, is also a passionate advocate for climate education and has worked extensively to communicate the science of climate change to the public. In this webinar, Dr. Shepherd will discuss his work in the field of climate change and the role of meteorologists in climate education. He will also explore how physicians might work with meteorologists around climate and health equity, especially in underserved and vulnerable communities. These communities are disproportionately affected by climate change due to a number of factors, including systemic racism and socioeconomic disparities. This webinar will provide valuable insights for physicians who are interested in addressing climate change and health equity in their communities.
