The Climate and Health Equity Fellowship was launched by the Medical Society Consortium on Climate & Health and the National Medical Association, in recognition of the fact that climate change is both a health emergency and a major health equity issue.

The goal of the Fellowship is to empower physicians to become leaders in climate and health equity education, advocacy, and policy solutions. CHEF is open to all physicians, including society members and nonmembers.

Applications are open now until December 15th at midnight (ET).  Applications will not be reviewed for consideration for an interview until all required materials are received. Fellows may be accepted on a rolling basis.

Fellows are expected to:

    • Be a member of one or more of the Consortium’s member medical societies
    • Meet in-person for a two-day (Saturday – Sunday) program orientation in February/March 2026, in Washington, DC (airfare & hotel included)
    • Clear your calendars to be able to participate in all semi-monthly virtual meetings, two half days per month of each month from February through December, to obtain knowledge and skills-based training on climate change and health equity
    • Complete readings, assignments, and preparations between meetings
    • Complete all engagement assignments on time throughout the program
    • Complete an approved Capstone project
    • Participate in limited ad-hoc meetings with community groups, funders, state network affiliates, and policy makers
