America’s Health Organizations Call on Congress to Invest in Health
America’s health leaders implore our elected leaders to meet this pivotal moment with the transformational investments required to protect and promote the health of all in response to the climate crisis.
This next month represents a major opportunity for climate and health equity. Last week, the House passed a 3.5 trillion budget blueprint. Over the next three weeks, committees in Congress will decide how much funding goes to climate solutions through the budget reconciliation process. This is a chance to make dramatic progress toward decarbonization, clean air, and a more equitable future. It’s possible that we will not get a chance like this for another 10 years.
With all that is at stake, a group of climate and health organizations came together earlier this month to develop a set of investment recommendations consistent with the Policy Action Agenda.
