Tribal Climate Change Program and Policy Specialist / Health Program Specialist I (HPS I)
Salary: $77,160-$96,588 annually
$6,430 per month/$77,160 annually for candidates new to State service

The Tribal Climate Change Program and Policy Specialist supports California Tribes, Tribal-serving organizations, and urban and rural Indian Health Services organizations, programs, and providers (Tribes) to prepare for and prevent the health impacts of climate change, improve social determinants of health, and meet existing health program objectives through engagement with climate change policy and planning. This position will provide coordination of activities including program planning, implementation, and evaluation; communications; stakeholder engagement; interpretation of research and data; training; and contract and budget management.

This is a hybrid position, requiring two days a week in the office or in the field, with up to three days a week telework.

Climate Change and Heat Lead / Health Program Specialist II (HPS II)

Salary: $84,768-$106,104 annually
$7,064.00 per month/$84,768 annually for candidates new to State service

The Health Program Specialist II (HPS II) works under the Health Program Manager II, Manager of the Climate Change and Health Equity Section of the Climate Change and Health Equity Branch, within the Office of Health Equity. The HPS II collaborates with other State agencies implementing AB 2238 to develop public health communications, messaging, guidance, and recommendations; liaise with local health departments and public health partners; and advise State agency partners on communications and outreach regarding development and deployment of an extreme heat ranking and health-based warning system. The HPS II is a highly skilled technical program consultant expected to provide coordination of activities including program planning, implementation, and evaluation; communications; stakeholder engagement; interpretation of research and data; training; and contract and budget management.

This is a hybrid position, requiring two days per week in the office or in the field, with up to three days a week telework. Up to 5% travel may be required for the position, including occasional travel to Sacramento or the San Francisco Bay Area.
