Date and time:Wednesday, February 21, 2018 8:00 pm
GMT Time (London, GMT)
Duration:1 hour 15 minutes
Description:
Every country that has committed to the Paris Accord has to submit its “Nationally Determined Contributions” to greenhouse gas emissions reductions (NDCs), and regularly revise its NDC. Currently, some of the NDCs reference health and some do not.

This webinar is being mounted to support member and partner interest in advocating for strengthening the focus on health, as countries revise and update their NDCs through the Paris Accord process, and to coordinate amongst what groups are already doing on this so as to build a broader movement.

The webinar will provide an overview of the NDCs, their timelines, and how and when they are being revised under the Paris Agreement. It will discuss health in the current NDCs, based on the World Medical Association 2015 study. It will walk participants through two NDC databases — one by the World Bank and another by ClimateWatch — and share information about how to use them. And it will provide an opportunity to discuss what health organizations are already doing on this issue, how we want to coordinate, and how health professionals and health organizations can get involved to push for strengthening health in their countries’ NDCs.
