The American Lung Association is looking for two policy directors to join our great team in DC, one to focus on the National Ambient Air Quality Standards and the other to lead a research project on healthy indoor air.


National Director, Policy, Healthy Air (DC #2021-88)

The American Lung Association has an excellent opportunity for a National Director, Policy, Healthy Air to join our incredible team in Washington, D.C. Working as a member of the Advocacy and Public Policy team, you will join an outstanding group of professionals dedicated to our mission: to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease through research, education, and advocacy.

In this role, you will be responsible for clean air and climate policy research, analysis and tracking relating to key federal air quality actions to reduce nationwide air pollution, with two main areas of focus: The National Ambient Air Quality Standards for ozone, fine particulate matter, and nitrogen dioxide; and opportunities to curb natural gas combustion, including in the appliance and industrial sectors. Represent the American Lung Association before federal agencies and develop advocacy materials. Provide technical assistance and consultation to coalition partners and Lung Association staff.

In this role, you will be responsible for clean air and climate issue and policy research, analysis and tracking with a specific focus on the indoor air and health impacts of indoor combustion, including gas and woodburning appliances. Lead the development of a major policy white paper and manage stakeholder engagement.
