Speakers:
- John Balmes, MD, is a Professor of Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco, where he is the Chief of the Division of Occupational and Environmental Medicine at San Francisco General Hospital, and Director of the Human Exposure Laboratory of the Lung Biology Center. He is also Professor of Environmental Health Sciences at the University of California, Berkeley where he is the Director of the Northern California Center for Occupational and Environmental Health and the Center for Environmental Public Health Tracking. He also serves as a physician member of the California Air Resources Board.
- Janice Nolen, MA, is the National Assistant Vice President, Policy, for the American Lung Association. She directs the Lung Association’s policy work on indoor and outdoor air quality. She represents the Association with other organizations and federal agencies in policy and regulatory issues, including leading a national coalition on radon. She produces and writes the Association’s widely read annual report on air pollution, the “State of the Air.” She also serves on the American Thoracic Society’s Environmental Health Policy Committee.
