This online, four-week course will allow you to understand how isolated weather events such as heat waves and intense storm events can be attributed to the changing global climate. Specifically, you will gain depth of understanding about how to separate the impacts of natural phenomena from human caused impacts contributing to the 1 degree Celsius (1.8 degrees Fahrenheit) increase in global average temperature over the least century and what the ramifications are if we continue to increase this another .5 degrees Celsius within the next couple of decades.
This course consists of foundational knowledge in the science of our changing climate, understanding the boundaries of “uncertainty” in future projections being posited by the scientific community, how to translate the “risk” being faced by a community, business, or sector, and finally, the different concepts of climate resilience and how they manifest as solutions.
