Melanie Haines, MD, is an endocrinologist and physician-investigator at Massachusetts General Hospital whose climate advocacy was ignited by a patient’s heat-induced medical emergency, driving her to bridge climate with endocrine health. She has led community-engaged extreme heat workshops in greater Boston in partnership with grassroots organization CREW. She is a member of the Endocrine Society’s endocrine-disrupting chemicals special interest group. Her expertise spans research on endocrine-disrupting chemicals, health professional education, and coalition-building across clinical, community, and policy settings.
