Dr. Selika Sweet, a board-certified Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians, is a
proud Mississippi native and Earl K. Long Family Medicine Residency Program graduate in
Baton Rouge. She has dedicated her career to advancing health education, equity, and
community empowerment. Inspired by a patient education conference scholarship, Dr. Sweet developed a lifelong passion for health literacy, empowering patients to take control of their well-being. As an assistant professor at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, she mentored future healthcare
providers, emphasizing education and leadership. Beyond her clinical work, Dr. Sweet has hosted educational radio programs, written op-eds on critical healthcare topics, and championed rural healthcare access. Her innovative integration of urban gardening into health promotion highlights her comprehensive approach to improving both individual and community health.
