2024 Annual Meeting Presentation

Day 1 – February 11, 2024

Young people are disproportionately vulnerable to the mental health consequences of climate change mediated through exposure to traumatic stressors such as severe weather events. As the crisis deepens, they are also more likely to experience climate-related distress, or “eco-anxiety.” We will review concepts of climate distress, emerging data on the relationship between climate anxiety and climate action, and explore one climate education intervention – participatory learning through APHA’s Climate and Health Youth Education Toolkit.
