Agustin Rivas, MD

Pediatrics | Miami, Florida | National Hispanic Medical Association (NHMA)

My name is Agustin Rivas, a board-certified pediatrician with a heart for service and a passion for the environment. Born in Mexico, I broke new ground as the first in my family to attend college, earning my MD from the Universidad Autónoma Del Estado de Mexico. I did my pediatric training at the University of South Alabama. Medicine and marine biology have always captivated me, fueling my empathy towards the suffering of humans and animals alike. For 20 years, my pediatric practice in northwest Alabama predominantly served African-American communities, providing unbiased and compassionate care, often pro bono for those in need. Now in Miami, I run a private practice where I continue to support low-income and homeless individuals. Witnessing the stark effects of climate change on local communities and coral bleaching during a scuba dive has further galvanized my commitment to environmental health, inspiring me to actively seek solutions for our changing climate.
