Matthew Hollon, MD

American College of Physicians (ACP)

Dr. Hollon is a primary care internal medicine physician for Multicare Rockwood Clinic in Spokane and leads the faculty group teaching core clinical skills to University of Washington School of Medicine (UWSOM) students who are part of the UWSOM-Gonzaga Regional Health Partnership where he is Clinical Professor of Medicine.  Dr. Hollon received his medical degree from the UWSOM in 1994. He completed residency in internal medicine in the UWSOM’s Boise Primary Care track then subsequently completed his Masters in Public Health before joining the Department of Medicine faculty in 1999 where he remained until June 2008.  In 2008, he joined Providence Internal Medicine Residency Spokane where he was associate program director from 2013 to 2021.  He was Governor of the Washington Chapter of ACP from 2018 to 2022 and during his tenure made a priority of educating health professionals about the health impacts of the climate emergency. He has also served on the regional leadership for the Society of General Internal Medicine and is currently the Secretary-Treasurer of the Washington State Medical Association.  He has earned multiple awards for teaching and service, including: the Richard M. Tucker Excellence in Teaching Award from the UWSOM in 2011 and 2015; the Advocacy and Community Service Award from the Society of General Internal Medicine, Northwest Region in 2021; the CREATE Award for Climate Change Advocacy from Gonzaga University Environmental Organization; and both the Exemplary Leadership Award in 2021 and the Laureate Award in 2022 from the Washington Chapter of ACP. In October 2023, he was awarded Mastership in the American College of Physicians
